Most recently, we acquired Builder’s Best®, expanding our offering to innovations in dryer venting and adding a more diverse range of products. And, we recently partnered with RUTLAND, Menzies Metal and PrimexVents.

The Duravent Group Over the Years

Hart & Cooley Manufacturing Company was established by Howard Stanley Hart, an entrepreneur, inventor, industrialist, and builder in partnership with Norman P. Cooley. This new company became the first in the nation to manufacture warm-air registers from stamped steel, a product line that gained instant success.

Dura-Vent opened for business in Redwood City, CA, making type B vents for natural gas or liquid propane appliances. In 1982, Simpson Manufacturing purchased Dura-Vent and established a manufacturing plant in Vacaville, CA.

Security Chimneys International was established with a commitment to quality, driving the research and development of innovative products and services for both residential and commercial markets. This dedication has earned the company a reputation as one of North America's most trusted suppliers of high-quality chimneys.

Several leading appliance manufacturers inquired about a simpler way to install dryers while maintaining safety standards. In response, the founders of Builder's Best developed and patented the snap-lock system, which quickly gained widespread adoption across the U.S., ensuring the safe installation of millions of new clothes dryers.

In January 2004, Egeria, an independent Dutch investment company founded in 1997, together with the management, purchased M&G Group. Since then, Muelink & Grol (“M&G Group”) has become the absolute leading manufacturer of flue-gas exhaust systems in Europe through various acquisitions and by achieving strong independent growth.

The M&G Group, a leading Dutch manufacturer, performed a regional refocus strategy by carving out a business focused on North America, and acquired Simpson Dura-Vent in 2010, becoming one of 13 companies in the privately held M&G Group, the largest supplier of engineered venting systems for the high-efficiency heating market in Europe.

M&G DuraVent acquired Security Chimneys International, Ltd in 2012. As a company who has built a reputation as one of the most trusted suppliers of quality chimney, Security Chimneys has been a great addition to DuraVent and has served to expand DuraVent’s market leading position of innovative products for the venting of residential and commercial appliances of all kinds.

DuraVent acquires Hart & Cooley, bringing together two industry leaders in the building products marketplace and the Duravent Group is formed. The Hart & Cooley portfolio includes of some of the most recognized and trusted brands in the industry, such as Selkirk, AMPCO, Amerivent, Heatfab and MILCOR. Both companies bring a rich history in the hearth and HVAC industries, with renowned legacy brands and innovative products.

The Duravent Group announces the acquisition of Builder’s Best Inc., an established manufacturer and distributor of venting solutions for the residential and commercial markets.  This strategic move combines core competencies and leverages manufacturing and venting knowledge of both companies to serve their customers and channel partners with a wider range of quality products manufactured in North America.
